Sin Bing Celian Wong's Innovative Solution for Working Mothers

Sin Bing Celian Wong's inspiration for the Devoted breast pump set came from the struggles of working mothers who are often forced to stop breastfeeding due to unfavorable conditions in the workplace. The Devoted set is designed to foster a private, comfortable, smart, and convenient experience, allowing mothers to pump milk without retreating to unhygienic environments.

The Devoted set includes a cloak and pumping components. The cloak, made of woven fabric, covers the upper body to maintain privacy during the process. The breast milk is then transferred through a tube and stored in a container located in a hidden pocket. The pumping shield, made of PP plastic, includes a heating pad that provides a warm feeling for added comfort.

The design of the Devoted set is not only smart and humane but also hygienic. The main machine, which includes an LCD screen, motor, and battery, is connected to the silicone container and transfer tube. This allows mothers to continue working while pumping. After pumping, the container can be removed and stored in the refrigerator.

The Devoted project began its research phase in September 2015 in Hong Kong and completed its design stage in June 2016. It was subsequently exhibited at the Dubai Design Week - Globe Grad Show in October 2016 and Salone del Mobile - Salone Satellite 2017. The project faced challenges in organizing and simplifying the scenario, especially considering the different parts included in the set. However, through continuous development and testing, these challenges were overcome.

The Devoted breast pump set was recognized for its innovative design and was awarded the Golden A' Wearable Technologies Design Award in 2018. This award is granted to outstanding creations that reflect the designer's prodigy and wisdom, embodying extraordinary excellence and significantly impacting the world with their desirable characteristics.
